Everyone's kicked off summer projects ,as usual (usual for SPJAIN ,unususual for other bschoolers ) students head off to various corners of South Asia to apply their learnings from MBA and past experiences and most importantly understand the problems of under privileged - be it the rural or urban poor. Its considered very useful experience as you work in unstructured work environments, unlike your typical corporate settings, and you are usually given fair amount of autonomy and independence by the NGO's.
As for me ,am off to work for byrraju foundation.
They adopted some 150 + villages in Andhra Pradesh and want develop them into model villages.
The usual questions linger in my mind
Whats the criteria for a model village?
When is a village considered transformed?
Sustainable?
Scalable?
