These are some of the names of the villages I've been visiting for the last one week.
My summers brought me to coastal andhra ,to the godavari districts
The timing couldn't be more perfect ,summer is yet to peak, the paddy crop will be ready in a week or so,the green fields turning into golden yellow,hundreds of canals cris crossing the country side,aqua farms…
its just lovely , photographer's delight , every visit to robs me of one cam- roll
More about my work ... Byrraju foundation has adopted some 150 + villages in Andhra Pradesh and want to develop them into model villages. it's an interesting concept (you may want to check out www.byrrajufoundation.org )
My work is in one of their modules - called project Ashwini ,basically a video conferencing facility linking hyderabad , nearby towns and some 116 villages ( 0.5 million population in villages). There are some programs like adult literacy, spoken English for school kids ,telemedicine, agriculture programs - farmers interact with agri scientists in Hyderabad. am trying to link up bunch of banks and insurance companies to use this platform to deliver their message to rural areas and also give some livelihood loans to the villagers , we are also exploring the option of market linkages and livelihood programs. lets see how it goes...
